Senior Frontend Engineer


DataSeer is a software company based in Houston, TX. Our software empowers some of the largest global engineering companies on their digital journeys by automating data extraction from industrial diagrams into digital twin creation. Our journey began in 2017 when we applied the latest advances in Machine Learning and Computer Vision to the classic engineering problem of interpreting and extracting information from technical diagrams. As our product and customer base grew, we spun the product into an independent software company in January 2021.

We are looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to join our full stack team and lead the frontend development of our flagship B2B Enterprise SaaS product.

As a Senior Frontend Software Engineer, you will be an integral part architecting a scalable User Interface that delivers the best-in-class user experience to customers. You will drive key features and partner with Product Management, Design, Data Science and other engineers to get inside the mind of customers in order to deliver innovative functionality and exceed customer expectations. The primary focus will be delivering a clear, easy-to-use, customer facing, commercial SaaS product.

  • You will be a key senior UI-focused engineer for the end-user and configuration persona capabilities
  • You will partner with Product Management, UX, Data Science and other engineers to get inside the mind of our end-user personas in order to deliver workflows that delight our customer base
  • Research and recommend evolution of toolchain and technologies (e.g. frameworks, languages, packages)
Required qualifications
  • 8+ years of hands on development/architect experience with React framework and tools (WebGL, Material-UI and Canvas)
  • 8+ years of web development experience utilizing best practices in JavaScript (ES6+), NodeJS, HTML5, CSS
  • Experience architecting scalable front end applications
  • Lead experience
  • Experience with global state management tools like MobX and/or Redux
  • Experience in development of unit and integration testing as an integral part of development
  • Experience with SaaS or distributed software products utilizing Scrum/Agile methodologies
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Analytical, forward thinking, problem solver, who enjoys staying up to date with new technologies and solving complex engineering challenges
  • BS or MS preferred or equivalent experience in Math, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a STEM discipline
Desired additional experience/skills
Experience in any of the following is a plus:
  • Git, Webpack, Babel, NPM and Jest
  • C#, PostgreSQL and/or SQL Server
  • Data-intensive environments with Python, R, etc.
  • Implementing complex enterprise/productivity applications
  • Working in B2B and Machine Learning settings
